About Bennyroyce
Filipino-American dancer and choreographer Bennyroyce Royon holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from The Juilliard School. Noted by The New York Times for his "keenly focused, succinct way with movement", he has performed with acclaimed dance companies such as Armitage Gone! Dance, Bad Boys of Dance, Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and Sidra Bell Dance New York. Royon has appeared in PBS Great Performances, on Good Morning America, and in the music videos of Son Lux and My Brightest Diamond.
His choreographic work has been commissioned and presented by the Atlanta Ballet, Chop Shop Dance Festival, Dancers Responding to AIDS, Joffrey Academy of Dance, New Orleans Fringe Festival, Point Park University, and Velocity Dance Center among others. In addition, he has been awarded several space grants and has received The Joffrey Ballet's Choreographers of Color Award. Royon has taught nationally and internationally at the Joffrey Ballet School (New York City, NY) Velocity Dance Center (Seattle, WA), Peridance Capezio Center (New York City, NY), Movement Dance Festival (Kfar Blum, Israel), and the University of Stavanger (Stavanger, Norway).
He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Bennyroyce Dance, a project-based contemporary dance company. Bennyroyce is currently a featured dancer in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of THE KING AND I.
